I ended up not playing today.
Various reasons.
They don’t really matter in the grand scheme of things.
Had a lot of fun at The Ranch today.
The course is better every visit.
The players respect the heck out of it.
The sport is also in an interesting place.
It doesn’t know what it really is.
Is it fun? Are we just Ace runs? Is it DGPT?
Maybe it’s fun when it’s challenging. When you respect the challenge.
I think either ways it’s always easy to cater to fun.
It’s more affordable and approachable that way.
No different than when this sport catered more to drinking and smoking.
One day it’ll be easy to cater to people wanting a challenge.
Making it more approachable to the average golfer again will then become the hard thing.
The goal posts move for everyone.
Reality shifts.
It’s the motivation that matters.
The right type of intent will move mountains.
The real goals behind it all.
The motivations. The reasons. The intent.
Thats what brings people out.
Makes them feel heard.
Welcomed.
Accepted.
Friends.
Being mean is easy.
Making friends is hard.
Don’t stop trying just because it’s hard.
The Ranch has taught me that much today.
