This blog is a bit of a reflection. A reminder of the current focus. How we got to this spot.
When we took over HOTT in 2021, we needed it.
We were hungry to prove ourselves.
We were also afraid of how it could change Mint's direction.
We understood it was going to fall mainly on me as Guy just didn't have time.
It wasn't part of our original plan but we really wanted to do it.
Before COVID events were much different.
We mainly had 2-round C-Tiers and there wasn't much competition in Austin.
Honestly, Austin had barely any PDGA tournaments.
I remember us both having a lot of doubts about it. We also wanted to run COTO really bad. We also really appreciated everything Mitch and Patty had done and didn't want to see it be for nothing.
We wanted to keep it going for them and the community.
So that sentiment won. I'm glad it did.
We reshaped the Texas schedule. Not that I want the credit, but we likely inspired a lot of other TD's to copy the model.
Honestly, Mint in 2025 looks very little like the company we were in 2021.
All the things along the the way were necessary though.
They propelled us. Taught lessons.
About people. Business. Our own boundaries.
Strengths and weaknesses.
Because we just decided to try it.
Now my view of the industry is much different.
We are having to adapt again. Get ahead of where we think the industry is going.
Just to survive.
It's brought Guy and myself back to where we were before 2021.
Before HOTT. Before Covid. Before Sprinkle. Before all of that.
Getting Mint back to the original business plan is very important to us right now.
Tomorrow I'll be back from vacation. Back at Sprinkle.
People somehow seem to know when I get close to home.
The texts and calls start again.
But for now...I just need to give myself to Mint.
The people at Mint.
The fans.
The company.
Guy.
Do not disturb.
Stay Mint.
