Today marks a new era for Mint Discs.
We are expanding our lineup with not only a new disc, but a new factory(in addition to MVP Disc Sports).
Mint Discs is excited to announce that we have entered into new manufacturing agreement with Prodigy Disc. The discs will be manufactured at their factory in Georgia.
Our first model will be the Idol, a high speed driver that fills a gap in our current lineup. We expect this model to available in a variety of weights and plastics to start. As of today it is PDGA Approved for tournament play.
Our relationship with Prodigy started because of the Sprinkle Valley store. I reached out to Will Schusterick and his team with the goal of offering their lineup in our Austin storefront.
Through our conversations about their own lineup, an opportunity arose that I don't think either party expected, but it started to make a lot of sense.
In late 2024, Will became the CEO of Prodigy
He is a 3x USDGC Champion. He will be a 1st ballot of Hall of Famer when his time comes.
He now runs Prodigy and from what I have seen, he still brings that US Champion mindset to work every day. Winning that event is not easy, let alone doing it 3 times. That takes a unique mindset to do.
He literally has done it all in disc golf.
That vast experience and unique understanding of the industry means a lot to us. It is a major factor in why we chose to work with Prodigy.
Internally Mint has been focused on finding ways to improve our merchandise offerings, specifically in the Sprinkle Valley store. The overarching goal has been to create a venue in terms of course and retail store that feels welcome to every disc golfer, not just Mint Discs fans.
Prodigy allows us to expand on that notion.
In addition to the new model, The Idol, we also expect to have access to:
- New plastics and color options.
- Larger selection of weight ranges for most plastics.
- Prodigy Discs for our custom stamping program.
The goal is to have lightweight Idols with the first run. We will also continue to offer all of our current plastics like Apex and Eternal as well with Prodigy.
The Serial # system will remain the same at this time as well, with no additional identifier being added to clarify the factory.
To further clarify, the current models made by MVP will continue to be made my MVP, and the ones coming from Prodigy will only come from Prodigy. The factories will not be sharing any of the models. So some of our new plastics will never be available in the MVP manufactured lineup.
We will provide more details on the plastics in time.
Below is information on the initial release schedule for The Idol:
Wholesale Customers: We will be emailing you full details this week. We will have a limited amount available to pre-order while we roll this model out. After the first initial runs, we aim to be able to keep this model in stock and available year round which will be a change of of pace with how we typically operate.
In addition to that, I will have samples available to test at our PDGA Summer League series every day this week.
Today we'll be at Circle C, where I'll also be giving one away as a CTP on Hole 2.
I am personally obsessed with this disc.
For those that have followed my blog this year, you know I have been figuring myself out. Trying to shape Mint's new direction while also trying to find ways to play more.
I was really burnt out last year. I needed a place to just talk and journal.
The Idol is one of those discs that makes sense the first time you throw it. My blog for the rest of the week will be focused on the Idol and why I love it.
I look forward to sharing that journey with you.
I cant wait to get my hands on the goods! Looking forward to grippin’ and rippin’
This is great news, prodigy has a ton of excellent plastics, this disc will be 🔥

Excited for this next step and pumped to try out the disc! Also, glad you leaked the name for us blog super fans over the last week.
