I haven’t had enough time to finish measuring the profiles on these nee Longhorns and Idols.
Theres more of those little hurdles I leave myself in terms of time management.
That being said, I think this will be a popular run of Longhorn.
Why? The runs of Longhorn that seem to stay in the bag are the really flippy or really beefy ones. Not the ones that fly true to the numbers.
Based on profile feel, these have mild domes. We’ll have 165g to 175g in Apex Swirl available at your favorite retailers.
Im going to give them a toss for the first time tomorrow. Based on feel alone I expect these to sit on the slightly overstable side.
Longhorns are good disc for that type of flight.
Why?
For Longhorn lovers it’s a disc you can season. That stability will slowly age out.
That fresh out of the box stability will also help it handle headwinds and forehands reliably.
This more stable flight is a general hallmark of Swirly Apex plastic for us in general. The last run of Longhorns in it were popular for this and until the 4th run of Apex came out super flippy, many people hunted the beefy Longhorns rather than the flippy ones.
My plan for tomorrow is see if the flight matches what my hands and experience are telling my brain. Then see if the PLH measurements match the flight differences compared to other runs I know well.
This is also what I’ll be testing
Apex Idol
Eternal Idol
Apex Mega Soft Idol
Eternal Mega Soft Idol
Apex Firm Idol
Eternal Firm Idol
Yeah FIRM Apex and Eternal…
I’m really looking forward to seeing how Firm and Mega Soft fly for the first time.
Plus I have two other 1st run plastics for the Idol…we’ll talk about those another week though.
For now, here’s a video with two of my favorite people.
