Forward Momentum (Day 273 of 365)

Forward Momentum (Day 273 of 365)

First up, we got Jackalopes! Dropping October 9 at 10am cst. This is the first time we have made this disc is Apex Swirl and I gotta say...this run feels absolutely amazing.

Now for the blog...

This year has been our year to "grow up" I think.

Mint became more than just a regional brand the past few years. For a long time our sense of community is what carried us. Many of our customers knew us personally. We saw them every week at events.

Now a majority of our regular customers have never met Guy or myself.

The way we present and live through Mint locally doesn't always make sense to some of the fans across the world.

A recent example is the Stamp Party with Eternal Flex Pickles. For past releases we would have only released these at the Stamp Party and left non-Austin fans with severe FOMO. This time though we were able to plan it so that customers could order Pickles online the Thursday before the Saturday Stamp Party.

We have to make more of an effort to connect with customers outside of Texas.

We also just got our foot into too many doors. Many of which weren't part of our core business at the end of the day. They didn't pay any bills. Could they have? Yeah, but in hindsight, the core businesses is selling discs.

Oh and hats. Something about our logo just works with hats. Got lucky there.

Being aware of your audience goes hand in hand with being a salesman.

It takes time to shift some of this, but I'm pretty happy with where we are going.

For the first time ever, we'll likely have a NEW retail exclusive release every week until Black Friday.

This week is Apex and Eternal Firm Idols. Next week is Apex Swirl and Apex Soft Jackalopes. The weeks after that? It's gonna be a Pickle Party. Maybe throw in some Lobsters by Halloween.

That's just OCTOBER.

We're investing more time in the product than ever before.

The discs. The serial #. The flights.

I also turned 40 not too long ago.

A few days into that milestone, I basically had to tell myself...the things you aren't great at as an adult can't exist like that anymore.

Guy and myself aren't the young local pros anymore. We are the old dudes that made the dream a reality.

Keeping reality going is much harder than having a dream.

I have to embrace that reality.

My dream is a job now.
