I finally bought a new phone just for work.
A mic and other accessories too.
Mainly for content.
My immediate goal is get better at talking about our discs on camera.
Not just throwing them, but talking about them. The serial number. Disc profiles. Plastic differences. Tournaments. All of it.
One of my few regrets with Sprinkle was not filming the construction.
Or even having a weekly blog about it.
So this is me tackling that going forward.
Maybe the next evolution of the blog?
Anyways we have to work on how we share our story.
We do a lot of this stuff in person.
I never really saw that disconnect or I guess opportunity for improvement until recently.
I think it helps that I’ve been very focused on maintaining my work load. I say no a lot more. I don’t immediately answer work related things after hours.
It’s hard to think when you don’t have the time.
I needed to make more time for myself.
I’ve had a lot of other small businesses owners ask me how we reach our audience.
That question always reminds me how lucky we are to do this thing in Austin.
We’ve always just known our audience.
When I tell people that, they don’t always seem to believe it.
I don’t have to run ads.
I don’t have to go to trade shows or markets.
Disc golf just has a way of connecting people.
Disc golfers find each other.
However from a marketing standpoint, the social media landscape has changed.
Fast.
What works is different.
We’ve not kept up with the times as best as we could.
The disc golf industry has evolved a lot too.
Plus Mint has grown bigger than our region.
We are a medium sized company by disc golf standards I’d say.
The gap between us and the top 4-5 is massive though.
I want to close it.
Adapt, evolve, whatever.
Just don’t stop trying to do the next thing better.
Enjoy Mint.
Stay Mint.
