The iconic basket is taking the summer off.

Why?

For one, I plan to let the native grasses take it over for a while. We have done this in some other areas with pretty good success(Hole 13-15). Letting high traffic areas heal is important for the sustainability of the course. In the future this will also hopefully help slow discs down that skip off the green. 

The summer heat also makes Hole 18 absolutely brutal. So a par 4 makes sense for the summer.

Finally, the PDGA has informed us recently that they won’t grant a waiver for it to be used as an island again. Since we have a few PDGA events soon, we need to switch to the short pin par 4 pin for these events. I’m still going to fight for it to be played as an island outside of that.

We are also going to have a little party before we send the par 5 pin off for the summer.

What is the King of the Green: A Sudden Death knockout game on Hole 18's island green at Sprinkle Valley. The pin will be removed for the summer once the contest ends.

Qualifying Round

• 4-6pm: $1 per throw.

• Each player must pay $1 per throw during the qualifying round. Once you make the island you qualify for the Final Rounds of the King of the Green. All unused throws are forfeit once you make it and your remaining balance is donated to the winners pot.

• Payment: Cash or Venmo in person only.

Final Round(s) - King of the Green

• Qualified Players will enter a sudden death knockout contest.

• Each player will get one throw to make the island. If you make it safely, you move onto the next round. If you don't make the island, then you will be eliminated.

• An Ace during the final rounds beats all makes. Once someone Ace's, you must match it to advance.

• We will continue to add rounds until only one player is left. It is winner take all.

• If at any point, all remainingplayers fail to make the island, then the entire game will reset and all knocked out players will rejoin the game.

• We will play into the dark if needed.

• You may change your disc between rounds.
