It feels impossible to explain how easy it is to let the negativity of the opinions of players into my brain space.
Especially as a tournament director and someone who works on courses.
It’s played a large part in why I’ve actively tried to stop commenting on things other TDs and course designers do.
People expect you to operate like an NBA game with the budget of a dude selling peaches on the side of the road.
It’s just never enough.
Even when we don’t have enough.
People are selfish.
Thats why golf is hard.
Don’t let it get you down.
Listen to the feedback and understand why it matters to them.
I worked enough years in a grocery store to understand most people just can’t see past themselves.
They can’t wear my shoes.
See through my glasses.
And I can’t wear theirs.
I am doing it for reasons they won’t ever see or need to understand.
Keep going.
Enjoy it.
I played ball golf last weekend and it was 10x the price and half the value of Sprinkle Valley. Disc golf has a lot of room to grow, but the value is absolutely there.
Tune out the people complaining that don’t do anything to improve the things they’re complaining about.
