Forward Momentum (Day 183 of 365)

It's almost time for the Gonzo Liberty Battle.

Do you know I've won that event 3 times?

Oh, it's close to The Ranch too.

Last year I was planning to do a "Gonzo Gold" layout for the Mint Discs Open.

We didn't have enough players to make it worth it.

But I have always though that course would be a lot of fun if we roped up every hole.

White stakes. White Rope. Perfectly cut fairways.

Mitch Justice tells me it's haunted too.

I have some WILD stories from that course.

The first time I won out there was against Jay Reading.

I banged a 50+ footer downhill on Hole 15. He looked at me stunned.

He could not believe I ran it. I had yet to win an event. Winning any event was a big deal back then even a 2-Round C-Tier. We only had 1-2 events a month in the area.

This was peak Yeti too, back when he was the putting world champ.

He walked up to his 20ft putt.

Cage.

Gave me a tap on the shoulder and said something along the lines of "you got me there".

With 3 holes to go, I knew I was going to get my first win. I knew it before I made that putt too. I believed it. Willed it in hindsight.

On the way home, with my first win under my belt, my transmission went out.

Tournament Winnings. GONE.

I'll post another Gonzo story tomorrow.

Don't want to spill all my stories in one blog.

Obviously I need to milk this because I have nothing else to write about today.

Leaving this blog there!

PS: Half way through the blogs for 2025!
