Forward Momentum (Day 201 of 365)

Forward Momentum (Day 201 of 365)

Summer League is pretty much over aside from one extra day at Sprinkle.

Thats 29 of 30 leagues done.

Sizzler coming up soon.

One thing I’ve really tried to be aware of is how much of my time and energy I “negotiate”.

I have had to be very black and white with people in order to change my habits.

I stopped explaining why we do a lot of things.

That was the big lesson I learned from how Sprinkle 18 played out.

Explanation and negotiation just cause this unending cycle of distraction for me.

So if we are going to do what we want to do with Mint…

If someone wants to negotiate with that or try to bring it down, I now just walk away.

I don’t negotiate anymore.

We will go do what we set out to do.

Black and white.

Find the ways to do it.

It’s also something I picked up on at Expo South while watching a few of 30+ year industry vets.

You see why they are successful.

That drive to get what they want because they believe in it that much.

It’s almost irrational and not always fair.

It’s business.

Fear of rejection doesn’t exist.

It can’t have a place to exist.

To be 1000 rated.

To make the green on 18.

To make a sale.

A new friend.

I can’t be afraid.

Will not.

Read the wind.

Take the shot.

Our shot. No one else’s.

There’s a time and place for supporting a community.

It’s incredibly hard to create an environment where both businesses and community can succeed simultaneously.

You can’t force it.

I am not going to please everyone.

I don’t have all the answers.

As we grew I took way too much stock in the opinions of those not close to Mint.

I negotiated my time away.

But I know where we want to take Mint.

I understand what opinions matter.

Confidence is met like an old friend knocking at the door.

The trust that made us quit our jobs to do this.

The crazy idea to build Sprinkle and play host to two large events.

I know all the things we didn’t do because of that too.

The things I want to finish.

The way we need to go with Mint.

We have always seen it before it happens, yet always been behind when it comes.

On day 201, I’m more sure of the direction for Mint than I have been in years.

I won’t tell you what we’re gonna do or why or when anymore.

We are just gonna go do it.

Black and white.

Our terms.
