My favorite run ever
So it dawned on me the other day that I don't know what my favorite run of Mustang is.
Heck, I don't even know if any run of Mustang makes my top 10 favorite runs(by serial #) of any Mint discs.
The Mustang is my favorite disc we make. It's the one disc that I guarantee you I'd be throwing if I didn't own Mint.
So I started thinking, what is my actual favorite run of a Mint disc? What is my top 5? Top 10?
I think I have a good idea on top 5, but I am not sure any stands above the rest.
I'm also trying to not pick singular colors within a larger run this time.
There are some legendary anomalies within run's and I've actually covered a few on youtube before in another "top 5" list.

Cool note about that video, that is Hole 10 at Sprinkle, about half way into construction.
Edit: After writing this blog, it became apparent this Top 5 ranking is done by: "where has this disc been all my life".
In no particular order.
Serial # NT-LH01-20 - Nocturnal Glow Longhorn, 1st run, Year: 2020
This is the second time this run has made the blog, so that's cool?
This run is known for it's flat profile/dome and more overstable flight. There's something about a straight disc becoming just slightly more overstable. You can hit it harder in the wind. It is usually easier to range due to less low speed glide. This run had a flight that made me say "well f*&!, now I always need that in my bag".
Perfect For: Long backhand hyzers or easy forward pushing forehands. Maybe you have a low fast ceiling, or need to give it a baby flex. It does all of that.
Collectability: Medium (scale of: very easy, easy, medium, hard, rare, unique)
Serial # RO-UF01-23 | Royal Soft UFO, 1st Run, Year: 2023
Here's another one for the "oh f*&!, I needed this" category.
I had been really struggling with throwing putters since we started Mint. I grew up on Omega Super Softs, JK aviars, and Yeti Aviars. For a while the Profit fit the gap, but it wasn't quite the do it all throwing putter. The Bullet was the same, it was like a mini little midrange, but the high glide made it hard to range. I was mentally and physically used to have that one putter that did it all, not having to pick between the Profit and Bullet. That worked(and does for many), but it wasn't what I liked. Enter, the UFO.
There's no better way to describe it to Mint fans than this: It's a Bullet with the glide of a Profit.
Perfect For: Flip to flat drives and approaches. Touch forehands around the green. Great all around putter for all styles - spin, push, pitch, and even turbo. Seasons well with the bead and rounded profile. Deeper feeling shoulder than the Profit, but still flat.
Collectability: Very Easy to Easy(to find)
Serial # ET-LS01-23 | Eternal Flex (Soft) Lasso, 1st Run, Year: 2023
This is the disc I keep trying to remind myself to put back in my bag.
I lost my thrower I had beaten up and have been missing it hard. It complimented the Soft UFO really well. I wish I had saved more for myself as backups.
Perfect For: Windy approaches. Controlled forehands. Will flip up with too much power, but just pushes forward. Low glide. Handles funky scooby and tomahawk angles for controlled up and down approaches. Seasons up really really well. Once it loses enough stability it becomes a super range-able hyzer flip machine.
Collectability: Medium (to find)
Serial # SB-GR01-22 | Sublime Grackle, 1st Run, 2022
So no lie, I am actually really excited for the next run of Grackles.
This disc was decently popular when we made it. To be honest, I think it was one of those models that needed to make it's way into peoples bags first. Just in the last few months has the demand increased enough, that we are ready to make more. It's similar to the Lasso in that, once you start to season it, it just keeps getter better. You find yourself needing a new, used and trashed version. So, it's time for some new ones.
Perfect For: Everything except putting. Thumbers, rollers, backhands, forehands. You will use it for everything. Ideal though for hyzer flip styles looking for a straight flight with a low skip finish. If you throw with flex, you should expect more side to side drift with late fade.
Collectability: Easy to Medium (to find)
Serial # RO-BC01-19 | Royal (Med) Bobcat, 1st Run, 2019
This was the first time running a Royal midrange. The plastic then was a bit "heavier" feeling. Denser maybe? Anyways, these discs were magic. It's also another disc that needs to seasons and be rotated. It was also a test run of sorts, so not many were made.
Perfect For: Backhand hyzers. Gets better with age, meaning you will carry 2-3. A nice get out of jail disc. Super low glide, so you can hammer it hard and predict the glide. It's impossible to overthrow the basket with this disc. Like we had people come study it. They took our money and agreed, IT'S AMAZING. The Royal plastic also helps reduce skips and ground movement. It hits and sticks. It also gets warped and funky shapes. Each Royal Bobcat seasons into it's own masterpiece that you get to slowly reveal with every throw. You know where every dent and scratch is from. You know exactly what every single thumb groove and dimple on the disc will do if you grip it there. That ugly ass disc that your buddy keeps doing insane shit with. And he's calling his shots too. That's this disc. That's the Royal Bobcat.
Collectability: Rare (to find)
So what about you.
What run is your favorite?
Why do you like it? Why should others?
Until tomorrow.
1. RO-BU02-21 // It’s my putter and I use it literally every time I’m on the course so why wouldn’t it be my favorite. It’s help me build confidence with longer putts while pmuch always being a tap-in within 20’.
2. SB-JL02-24 Soft // The hand feel on this thing made me instantly fall in love with this disc. The flight was able to get me to holes I’ve never been able to consistently reach giving me more shot opens for my predominately backhand game.
3. SB-PR01-22 // Awesome reliable throwing putter that see’s a lot of work and the trifoil Black/Red/Gold on a money green plastic w/ some gold flake is chefs kiss.
4. ET-LB01-24 // I had a hard time finding consistency in the mystery box apex lobsters, and this run gave me that consistency of fighting back that I was looking for at the end of the flight.
5. SB-AL07-24 // This is the disc that made me realize I need to throw faster overstable stuff and stop trying to hyzerflip every shot. This particular run is a great straight to stable run that you can get a good pump on and know it’ll come back.
Providing honest comments on some of these because who or where else is anyone gonna care if not here:
a lot of these i owned and bagged for a bit, but truthfully, i got them when i was not as experienced <<not like i’m soOoOoo much more experienced now, BUT i have improved and learned some things. (i hope 😅)>>. Anyway, point being i didn’t take the time to to stick with them and learn them as i would now, so today’s blog is really a push for me to try out these discs again.
The UFO i found too deep in my hand, but that’s cause i was solely focused on using it as a putting putter. Now when i drive with my bullet, it feels to shallow and akward in my hand for driving, so now i’m really eager to try out the UFO again 🤔.
Lasso- I think the majority of the soft flex lassos i have are all super ice clear ones that i find wayyyyyy too pretty to throw, and can’t bear the thought of losing one. I might have 1 from the mason ford xmas 2disc challenge still, so i need to pull that one out. I’m more partial for using the nocturnal version but i realized ive fallen into the trap of thinking glow plastic=more overstable = “better” and have been slowly trading out my glow versions for others just to learn what else the disc can do.
Sublime Grackle - see above. i use the nocturnal one usually, but i do bag this one. why i pick it instead of the glow at times, i’m not sure.
WHILE on the subject, what’s up with these sublime grackle runs being some of the prettiest sublime discs ever made? like they’re all one color, but still swirly. a lot of later sublime discs ive seen, i dont really see them as super ‘swirly’. Maybe it’s just the ones ive seen,Royal Bobcat - such a money disc. I’m sooo pysched to start using the most recent runs. I still got a few of these runs as backups, but i absolutely love it.
Some personal favorites —
1st run pearly eternal longhorns – I would say the best longhorn. Didn’t take much to hyzerflip, BUT it didn’t turn too too much, and didn’t fade back too too much either. or maybe the one i had was seasoned perfectly. unforunately it’s lost somewhere at harry myers.
1st run apex longhorn – my first driver that made me feel like maybe one day i could throw long. that slight touch of turn off a lil hyzerflip 😍
eternal bullets — jack of all trades for runs. the lil flick slow flex approaches are VITAL to my game.
okay gotta go back to work now.
Not in a particular order, just based on what I throw a lot.
Swirl Apex Bullet 01-23
It’s my best throwing putter. Flies straight and I get a good amount of distance out of it.
Medium UFO 01-23
I use this a ton for straight upshots when I’m trying to control the distance.
Eternal Lobster 01-24
I use this disc often, hyzer flips and long turning shots. People are often surprised at how far it flies. I threw some really great shots with this disc at my first A Tier (The Myrtle Beach Open)
Eternal Salamander 01-24
I ordered the mystery box back in May, without any knowledge of how they worked. I was hoping this disc would be in there. To be honest, I was a little disappointed when I saw the flight numbers because I didn’t see where it would fit between the lobster and Jackalope. Boy was I wrong! It is perfectly different from both of those discs. It gets great slower turn for me than the lobster or Jackalope. It flies far and hyzer flips for beautiful straight shots. I found myself reaching for this more than the Jackalope now.
Mason Ford Sublime Alpha 07-24
My 4-21 run Apex was so beefy, but I loved this stamp and decided to give it a try. It gives me reliable fade, but not too crazy, fights the head wind really well, and I can forehand or backhand it.
