This is a Zach brain dump.
I'm also writing this the day before it's posted.
Look at that...slowly getting ahead
(but it's still late at night...sigh).
In my headphone I am playing the Mason Ford guest spot on the Stamp Stream from today. I am switching back and forth between writing the blog and making some highlight clips from funny and cool moments on the stream(and then posting those to IG/FB).
This was the first true "scheduled" segment that we tried to have set up. Everything else had been just us learning on the fly.
So that was cool to execute.
Guy is kicking absolute ass too. He's getting to do what he actually went to school for while doing the job he loves.
Tomorrow Guy will have our good friend Dusan from Live Oak Brewing on the stream. Now ending plug to watch the stream tomorrow at 10am cst on twitch.tv/mintdiscs
Next topic.
Someone posted in a comment in Tuesdays Blog about needing the name of the disc on the bottom of the disc.
Well hey Hector R...we 100% agree.
The name of the disc and the serial # will now be embossed on the bottom of all non-stock discs. Stock Discs typically have the name and serial # in foil on the top of the disc.
Cool.
But I'm still barely holding my ahead above water. I definitely knew I was more irritable this week. Sometimes it's just that way with everything going on. As Guy says "I have things to do". I wanted to do them and do them well.
Also shoutout Efrain, Jacob, Thao, Will, Martin and a few others for taking the lead on setting up the new 18-hole putting course layout over the last few weeks. Some really cool new holes are coming very soon.
Anyways, I started this blog because of a single thought.
Be 1000 rated.
So mentally I want to work for Mint with the same focus I did when I wanted to be 1000 rated.
The first few years of Mint were me divesting myself from playing, & also finding our place in all of this. Then taking on HOTT. The next couple of years were a blur of a pandemic. The sell the sport era. Throw in Sprinkle Valley and US Women's to top all that off.
The focus was community. It collided with a boom. We shook out pretty good.
But that's all done. The other stuff accomplished.
Now it's just Mint. It's the job I wanted 15 years ago.
I am obsessed with just Mint for the first time in a long time.
Focus is good.
Mint is humming at probably our best pace ever. With the blog and stream we are now accountable to a public daily schedule. 365 days. 7 days a week.
I still expect a few stop signs, but that's the job.
It's almost freeing in a weird way.
Finding new ways to show people who we are.
Hopefully that doesn't back fire. hah.
Des told me something important last year, back when I was going through all my own stuff.
She said very clearly, "Zach, it's a job now."
Des was right. It wasn't fun anymore. I had to figure out how to make it fun again.
Then I could get back to work.
I needed to hear that. Thank you Des.
Until Tomorrow.
